Hello folks,
That's correct, I had this message displayed tonight while driving home with my wife on a local streets at 35 MPH. My 2007 XC90 V8 4.4 w/91K miles has been well maintained since we bought it at 48K miles. We don't drive it you stole it, but spirited driver.
During about the same time last year, I noticed that the shifting was kind of harsh from 1st to 2nd gear and especially during hot summer months, so I took it to a well reputable Volvo indy shop. I had them ran to check for any codes and had the transmission flushed. They flushed the transmission and used full synthetic fluid as I was told. They did explained to me about the long process on how it was done etc. It did cured the harsh shifting until this past week and now today. As for today, the engine rev up and a bang sound into 2nd gear if you give it too much gas. I coast it home and let up the gas paddle when the transmission shift from 1st to 2nd gear.
I would like to know what can I do at this point, do I get another tranny fluid swap or ??? There isn't a dip stick for me to check the fluid condition or anything like that. I really need help as I don't have $4k or $6K to have the transmission replaced.
Help! Anyone from Minnesota and know of a good reliable Volvo mechanic?
Thank you in advance.
Jay
