Hi there, you have allready given the answer.
The engine is so new that NO tuning company has chip for the new Volvo engine systems yet!
When Volvo constructed the new ECM SW for -99 one issue was to make it hard for tuning companys to manipulated the engine managment system.
Volvo 850 T, T5R, R had Bosch Motronic 4.3.
Volvo 850 AWD, 2.5T had Bosch Motronic 4.4.
-98 S/V/C70 2.5-20V GLT, 2.5T (GLT in some countrys), AWD, T5 and R had Bosch Motronic 4.4,
Both systems are "easy" to tune compared to the new system in S/V/C70 and the S80 because their not a part in a network within the car!
YM99- Volvos with turbo has Bosch ME7 system with electronic throttel and variable exhaust camshaft and the ECM is a part in a internal network and communicates with CEM/CDM and that makes it very hard to manipulate the program in the ECM (EngineControlModule).
Volvos with 6cyl. engines also has the ME7 system but the variable camshaft is on the inlet side instead.
5cyl. 20V suction/aspirant engines has a new system from Denso and it has the same features as the ME7 for 6cyl. engines.
You can't take the ECM out of the car and reprogram it and put it back again. You have to reprogram the ECM in the car and at the same time reprogram the CDM/CEM (like a brain in the car).
So to make people aware of the fact that we have new eninge features in the -99 Volvos the name of the engines have been updated from 2.5 to a more correct 2.4!

PS. Tuning and Supporting in the same meaning?
