The paint used on your car is identified on your car's paint code plate. This plate identifies not only the color code, but also the paint manufacturer (and in some cases the paint process used) as well.
According to the Volvo "Paintwork Repairs" manual, the paint code comprises 3 digits for the color code, a fourth digit for the paint manufacturer, and a fifth for the paint process.
