so after a long, difficult Saturday, got new timing belt in....no wonder mechanics charge so much....my question....when I installed little white plastic cap over tip of hydraulic tensioner, it went in with quite a bit of resistance, and I had to force it in....now realizing I may have installed in incorrectly, with the convex surface up, rather than down into the 'depression' where the pin comes out...will this overly tension the belt? trying to avoid having to go back into the patient, but will do it gladly if it means avoiding engine damage...
