HID Upgrade Pics Are Now Available.

The first pic which I think EVERYONE wants the most is a comparison of the oe halogen with Philips Blue Vision Bulbs in 9006, versus the Philips Xenon HID 9006 conversion.

As you can see, the halogens are still pretty yellow, and are not nearly as bright as the HID's. The HID's are VERY white, and bright.

The pic below is of the wiring which allows the HID's to be wired to anything, as long as it has a 12V DC power source, and a good ground. The plastic pack contains wire taps (blue thingies in the plastic bag), to allow tapping into existing wiring without any tools whatsoever, black anodized screws for mounting the ballasts, white zip ties to secure wiring. On the right, if you look carefully, at the top left corner of the thick black wiring, you will see a little loop, which is sized for the average car battery's connection clamps, and for grounding. The two black rectangular boxes at the bottom left of the thick black wiring are fuses. The two black larger cubed things are relays. So if all you had was a 12V battery and a ground, you could wire up these lights.

In this pic, you will find two Philips Xenon HID ballasts. These ballasts have an integral plastic shell over the metal shell that Charles Linden has featured on volvospeed.com. The upper ballast has the headlight assembly wiring plugged into it. The blue use see plugged into the upper ballast is aftermarket wiring that came with the kit (identical to the 9006 wiring found at UAP). The brown seen at the other end of the wiring is the copper visible through clear heat shrink. I used clear heat shrink so that the colour of the wiring could be seen through the heat shrink. The black module is the connection point between the head light assembly wiring and the module that goes to the existing wiring for the head lights. As such, you can see the 9005 wiring as well for the highbeams. On the lower ballast, there is a Philips Xenon HID bulb connected to the ballast.

On the left is the stock 9006 wiring, I removed from my headlight assembly, for damage due to heat, through normal operation. I have never used anything other then high quality bulbs such as Philips, Osram, and PIAA. Maybe it is due to the full power DRL's, but in either case, damage occured. It is difficult to tell because of the shadow cast by the black wire from the oe socket, but the oe wiring is MUCH thinner then the aftermarket (UAP/NAPA) 9006 connector, and was VERY brittle by the time I replaced it. Also, it is important to note the blue rubber gasket around the 9006 socket from UAP. This ensures a MUCH better seal of the connection, between the two points. Also the lighter blue plastic are clips that allow disassembly of the connection, and the wiring, so disassemly is possible without destroying the socket.

I hope that's everything you guys were interested in. If there are more questions, or comments, please chime in
