Dealers are of no help!

Hi everyone!

I am new to this site (forum).
I finally decided to seek help (advice) from some of you (hopefully)
Dealers have been of little help so far and I have had enough of my little Volvo problems.

I own a 2000 V70 (5-spd. Auto) with 18000k.
The car had its share of small problems (bulbs, recalls, windshield washer jets etc.) several trips to the dealer.
Two original issues that had never been resoled are:

1. A faint clunking noise coming from the tranny when the car downshifts between 2&1. It is a lot more noticeable during hot summer months.
2. When I am sitting at the light and the car is in gear with my foot on the brake pedal (idling) there is a lot of cabin noise (hard to describe) it sounds like a deep humming/rumbling sound way annoying. The minute I let my foot off the brake pedal it goes away.

Dealer tried to resole the first issue with new ATF and software update, did not do a thing. The second issue (cabin noise at idle) apparently is characteristic to Volvo, and there is nothing they can do. They checked engine mounts and they are fine!

As I read some of your very informative statements, I came across a potential solution to my first issue. Synthetic ATF might help! Can someone confirm this before I go ahead & change the oil, thanks.

I truly appreciate any insights.

Thanks

Joee
