A litte background before the weirdness (I apologize in advance for the long post)-

I added Bilsteins, front and back, and an IPD front anti-sway bar to my '97 T-5 sedan (76K miles} about 6 weeks ago. Started having some groaning or "binding" sounds from the front suspension when the car was cold, expecially when "walking" over driveway curbs, etc. Took it to the mechanic (good indie guy) who did the install, couldn't find anything wrong, but told me to give it a week or two, and bring it back if necessary. The the weirdness begins.

First, we get seven inches of snow in South Carolina. Being the no-snow-driving redneck I am, I drop about five pounds of pressure out of my front tires to hopefully pick up a little traction.

Second, as soon as I dropped the tire pressure, all the groaning and other noises disappeared.

I'm running stock wheels with Michellin V-rated tires. Normally keep them at 32 psi (cold). Dropped them to 27 psi (cold). Will bring them back up to 32 tomorrow and see what happens.

Does this seem as weird to everyone else as it does to me?
