What's the deal with 'Main Wiring Harness failures?' V70-XC70 1998

Greetings,

I've noticed one or two posts regarding an expensive fix due to the main wiring harness burning up on the '98 V70. Those of you who may remember, I still have the '98V70AWD that I've posted about before (still love it, and still a little nervous about the infamous bevel gear) and am wondering if there is something that could/should be changed. I recognize that at this point, it's not very common, but an ounce of prevention blah blah blah.
