I've been reading some posts on this board regarding stall problems in volvo cars. I own a volvo 460, a small model sold in Europe (I live in the Netherlands). Its technically identical to the 440 model, but a sedan model instead of hatchback. Specs: Build 1995, 2.0 litre injection (non turbo), 5 gear, front wheel drive.
The problem is that the car stalls once in a while, seems like its out of fuel, and sometimes doesnt re-start for about half an hour. This doesnt happen often, but its obviously both irriating and dangerous. I dont see any relation with temperature or humididy. To me, it seems like a problem similar to those described on this forum, and many times the fuel pump / relay is blamed. So I figured i might give that a try, but to be honest I don't know where the thing is!
In my car, the fuse box is mounted under the dashboard at the drivers side... is the relay close to the fusebox? Looking for any suggestions by people that have experience with volvo 440, 460s or general.. perhaps the layout is close to that of the 740/940 models, but i'm not sure.
