Over Revs during gear change. T5 850 1995

When accelerating, pressing the clutch to change gear increases the revs by 200-300rpm for several seconds.

This results in lurch forwards when the clutch is released in the next gear.

Also when the engine first starts it revs high briefly.

Volvo believe that the over revs between gear change are a feature to prevent backlash on the engine when you take your foot off the throttle but I'm not convinced.

The over revs at start up I can live with (not so sure about the neighbours).
