I have this brand spanking new S80 as a company car. Real pleasure to drive. However this morning almost killed myself and others on the road as the 2nd gear (manual gearbox) refused to engage repeatedly.
As any of you who might be engineers know, the worst failure on a manual gearbox could be if stck on high gears --> You can't drive to a safe position.
The breakdown service man instructed by Volvo Breakdown assistance came in 2 hours from the moment I called, inspected the car and agreed with me that there was a problem - gear shifting cable was worn badly. He then refused to tow the car to the nearest Volvo dealer as he claimed that the car was "driveable" and that I should drive it to the dealer myself. When I protested that the car wasn't safe to drive he said there was nothing he could do. He then left me...
Poor service, Poor response. I am disgusted and insulted.
A brand new Volvo developing a fundamental dangerous fault
And a brakdown assistance that was anything but.
I will discourage all the people in my company from ordering Volvos after this experience. Maybe BMW and Merc know a thing or two more about customer service.
Anybody had experienced similar faults on S80 or other Volvo models?
