Location of switch for reverse lights S70 1998

Hello Everyone:

I've got a 1998 S70 T5M (manual transmission). Recently the reversing lights have stopped working reliably. They'll either stay off or "blink" on and off like either the switch or a connector is loose.

I removed the boot from around the shift level, but could not see any microswitches. Similarly, I looked at the transmission during an oil change, and didn't see anything obvious.

Does anyone know where the switch and/or wiring harness for controlling the reversing lights is?

Is the problem I'm exeriencing common?

As luck would have it, I'm just a few thousand miles outside of the warranty!

Thanks for your help,

-Douglas
