shocks and brackets 850 1997

My 1997 850 GLT wagon (with only 58,000 mi.) has many of, what appear to be, the typical problems. Brake issues/dust, fuel injectors that had to be replaced, new thermostat last week, a tailgate that is still loose and annoying...despite it all, I still love the thing!

The newest problem is this: rear shocks (one of which is trashed) that have to be replaced along with the brackets that hold them (one of which is actually broken). Is this odd or is it just me? I have spoken with my mechanic to alert him to the fact that I want him to check thoroughly for rust and corrosion since it would still be covered under warranty.

In the meantime, any opinions as to why I may be having this problem? Any light you may be able to shed would be greatly appreciated!!
