S70 Purchase advise S70

We're looking to upgrade from our '90 740 to something newer. I actually have not warmed up to the new body styles of the s60's and s80's so it looks like we're looking at an s70. The car will primarily be used as a commuter car (30 miles / day) and sporatically as a family car (2 kids w/ car seats, but one almost out of it). We considered the wagons, but our other vehicle is an Explorer so that'll be used for hauling big stuff.

I've looked at a couple of 98's and 99's on a local dealer's website and their asking prices are in line (if not on the low end) of the dealer prices for these cars. The mileage on them is about 47k and 30k respectively and there are both std and glt models. While a sunroof & leather and a turbo are nice, I'm not sure if they are worth the 3k difference in prices.

I'm seeking advice on both the models and prices. In particular,

If you bought a used 98 or 99 recently what did you pay?

If you traded one in, what did you get?

Is it worth the extra for the GLT or will we be fine with the std model?

I've read about the 98 model year 'problems'. being an Explorer owner as well I've taken many a trip to the service dept for reacall items. Can I assume Volvo has taken care of most of the glitches and that with the recall services I shouldn't worry?

Finally, the dealership is where wer bought our current 740 from and use for all services on the vehicle. Will 'customer loyalty' help in getting a good price on the nwe car as well as my old car (should I decide to trade)?

Thanks in advance.

Peeter
