98 XC AWD need help fast V70-XC70

My eldest daughter is looking at a 98 V70 XC AWD Wagon with 35K in very nice shape for $22K from a dealer. Is that a is a good price (metro DC) and more importanly what's been the reliability on tis vehicle and the turbo unit? She is very taken with the wagon and I being the owner of a 82 (350K) 240 Wagon think she would be comfortble and safe in this vehicle...or should she buy the new Jetta wagon for the same price???
Help fast she's talking tonight.
