low coolant level 850 1993

I have 2 coolant questions.

I have a 1993 850 with 40k miles. The past two mornings the coolant light has flashed on and off briefly. I t never stayes on long, just for about 30 seconds.

I got my manuel out to see what I shoud do and it said to check the coolant level. I unscrewed the coolant level cap and I do not see anything that shows the level as being high or low? I can see coolant in the container and it could be low but I dont really know? Where is the high/low mark? Is it supposed to have a dip stick like the oil?

Also I do not know what kind of coolant to add. Are there different kinds? Is there one particularly made for Volvo amd my model? I live in North Carolina and the weather is mild.
