Center Drink Compartment Lid Stuck S80

My S80 center drink compartment lid is stuck shut. (Not the flimsy front drink holder, not the large rear compartment.) I have tried everything, pounding, pushing, prodding, hitting, forcing, twisting...everything short of using enough force that would break a plastic clasp. Has anyone else had this happen? Any solutions to getting it opened?
