Leaking rear crankshaft seal? 850 1996

Hi from Down-Under, land of the slowest speed skaters in the world. Just purchased my first Volvo last week. A standard 850 (1996 automatic), immaculate, with a low 50,000 kilometres - about 35,000 miles. I have just spotted a slight leak that is probably the rear crankshaft seal. Is this common?
