Before anyone rags me, No I am not trying to be cheap with my 40K $ investment.

The reason I ask is that the company that I go the ECU from said to burn Super Plus. It old them the first (already full) tank of gas was Normal Super and asked if that would hurt the engine. They told me no, but that for optimal performance I should burn Super plus.

I really am not interested in point whatever more performance - the thing will sling the tires off already - I just don't want to be doing damage by not burning higher octane gas. I have heard that not having enough can sometimes wear more, especially if there is pinging. I never ping with Super, ever.

On the otherhand - all things being the same (without an ECU upgrade) I have heard the argument that over time, using super plus will make your engine less likely to ping, but that it actually wears the engine more because the explosions are more violent.

Anyway I like the idea of being able to use normal super now and later be able to upgrade to Super Plus years down the road when I need to improve/ smooth upon a wearing motor.

So, what is less damging to a ECU upgraded engine?
