Tranny fluid change, how to? V70-XC70 2001

So I am at 20,000 miles and I want to change the transmission fluid. The first thing I noticed is the tranny fluid dip stick is way down under all sorts of hoses and lines, almost impossible to get to. I also could not easily locate the tranny drain plug while changing my oil. Has anyone done this themselves? Anyone know why Volvo seems not to want you to even check your fluid level?
