Bilstein shocks for 850R 850 1996

I am considering replacing my existing OEM shocks with a set of Bilsteins. I understood that the original shocks for the 850R were uprated and stiffer than the regular 850T. Can anyone confirm this and will I find that the handling will be considerably improved with the Bilsteins? Thanks for your input.
