No radio reception unless car is running on an 850 wagon 850 1994

The radio will not work unless the engine is actually running.
And even then there is a ~20-30 second delay before the reception kicks in.
Then it's fine.

I suspect it is the antenna booster but I do not see why it would all of a suddenly stop working unless the engine is running. Why would it only be powered
when the engine running?

Any ideas on where too look, what to examine.
