I have a 94 854 and on my way to school (stetson univ.) about a 250 mile trip my up shift indicator light started flashing (the one that lights up if you put the car in L or 3 or when it is in winter mode) along with the transmition mode indicator lights (sport/economy modes) so i pulled over and looked in the manual and it said it was an automatic trans. fault so after some test driving down shifting and everything else i could imagine doing to it i deemed it fine to go on so i got to school without any problems and then the lights stopped flashing 2 days later after some routine daily driving and then it happenned again about 2 weeks later on the way to Cocoa Beach from Deland Fl where i go to school. both times it seemed to happen on down shifts at high speeds (65+mph)and both times it has gone away a few days later
so since it is a 94 i know i can read the codes myself but exactly how do i do this and how do i determine what the codes mean?
i am very fimiliar with volvos especialy older ones but i have only checked codes on the giant computer at the dealership and with the hand held units (while working in the shop for a summer) but never manually
so how do i check it? (which slot do i put it in and what do i need to push)
what does it mean?
and what is the service reset code? i forget what it is and which slot the peg goes in.
