S40 Air Con S40-V40

Hi,
I was just wondering if it's ok for the system if I set the temp to the very coldest with aircon on. I know in 240's it can cause the system to lose it's effectivness. It seems that even at the coldest setting, my S40 doesn't blow nearly as cold air as my '93 960 wagon. On the auto setting in the S40, at 16C, the fan blows very slowly and one step more to max cold, it blows full speed--Is this right??
