Uh oh. The airpump. Considering my options.

My airpump sounds like it has a bad bearing, so I want to consider all options before it eventually siezes. One option I *don't* want to discuss is paying $250 or $300 for a new pump.

If I disconnect, the check engine light will come on so I don't want that. But can I disconnect and jump a couple terminals so it appears to the circuitry that this useless apparatus is properly connected?

Most auto parts are also used in other cars (but sold at different prices, such as the 740 blower motor $90, Chevy Citation blower motor, exact same part, $17). Is this same airpump motor used on a car that's not premium-priced?
