Removal of Volvo Spoiler

Last weekend the spoiler on my S70 cracked. I'd like to remove it before the crack becomes too unsightly. I removed the two restraining clips on each side of the spoiler, but couldn't remove it because of the padded adhesive tape between the spoiler and the trunk lid.

Has anyone removed the spoiler without damaging the paint? If so, how? Heat gun?

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.
