Manual Gearbox Problem... 850 1995

Greetings from England,

Since a motorway sliproad race last weekend (against an older M3 - I won :-)) I have been having gearbox problems with my '95 T5 wagon.

Specifically I now get a terrible graunching/grinding noise when changing into 3rd gear - from either 2nd or 4th. All other gears (including reverse) are fine. I've tried changing up and down into 3rd at different speeds and from cold and warm, all with the same results.

I'm assuming this means the 3rd gear gate or 3rd gear synchro is knackered ?

If so, I used to know a good gearbox place in High Wycombo (sorted out my old Audi Coupe 2.2GT a few years back)...
