I purchased my S40 back in July of 2000 since then I have replaced my air filter with a K&N air filter and I use synthic oil. I also have tried every bran name of gas in the Phoenix valley (shell, Exxon etc..). I also have brought it in to the dealer and asked my gas mileage is so poor.

It got worse (miles to the gallon)during my 30k service I now get to the tank when my gaslight comes about 255 or 260. that about 20 miles or less to the gallon.

When I bought the car new, the information on the window states, I think 23 24 miles to the gallon city and 28-32 highway.

I have never gotten the miles per gallon as the window sticker states. I have posed this question to Volvo many times and each time they have an excuse.

I certainly do not drive with a lead foot.

Has anyone out there come across this problem and found a fix with his or her s40?
