Rough motor-like noise by front driver headlight question.. 850 1995

Hey All,

I am new to this board, and in fact new to Volvo's completely. I recently purchased a 1995 Volvo 850GLT Sedan and have been enjoying it thouroughly so far.....Currently there is a fairly loud noise coming from the engine bay seemingly quite near the front driverside headlight...The noise is continuous, and starts immediately when I turn the key to the first notch (i.e. just the accessory stage, not even the dashboard lights stage and of course no engine firing at this point). The noise seems to be located very close to the radiator and the battery - cannot determine exactly where, but in that vicinity. The noise sounds similar to a noisy motor or a noisy fan and can be quite loud...Sounds like possibly a motor grinding on something or maybe just worn out bearings in a motor...

Other then this the only thing I have encountered as a problem with this vehicle is a slight creek/popping/or sproingy type noise from the passenger side front end..From what I have read, people seem to believe this is caused by a bushing...If anyone has more thoughts, would be grateful to hear them...

If anyone out there can offer any insight into the above problems it would be very much appreciated...

Thanks in advance for your help..
Jeff
