850 AC repair, thermostat bolt 850 1997

First, thanks to all for some useful info on repair issues. My 850 turbo wagon recently had troubles starting with an alternator failure at 70k miles. After the repair, occasionally the AC would stop cooling and blow warm air only. This would continue until the car was shut off. The temperature gauge was registering warmer than usual(previously always at 3:00 or lower) Recharged AC with 134a and AC cooling was better but still cut out after 5-7 minutes of operation. After reading some posts related to AC problems, learned the AC compressor has a high temp cutoff. Since engine appeared to be operating hotter, I decided to try changing the cooling system thermostat. Obtained part and stripped the thermostat torx bolt under the fuel rail during removal. Had to use a sawzall blade to hand saw a slot on top of the torx bolt and a big flat blade screwdriver with a square shank, a crescent wrench, and a hammer to coax the bolt out. (This sucker was tight, be very careful) Also, upon replacing the thermostat housing, dropped a bolt thru the manifold. (I don't recommend this, as it adds at least 1 hour to this 15 minute job; place the bolts in the housing then ease into position) Finally, was able to reassemble. AC has been working fine since. Engine temp gauge is back at 3:00 position or lower. The replacement thermostat was a 90 deg C version(195 f) Elapsed repair time-3 hours. Hope this helps someone and thanks again....
