Finally fixed squealing brakes, now a question 850 1994

I finally got my front brakes to stop squealing using the pads FCP Groton told me were the OEM. My question is: What exactly is it that makes aftermarket brake pads/rotors squeal so much even when proper installation procedures are followed? These are good companies that make these aftermarket parts...what's the difference?
