I'm SO glad I found you! After months of looking for an affordable Volvo wagon in Milwaukee I think we found one.
We are looking at buying a 97 GLT V-70 wagon (NOT the AWD model) in a few days. The price we've been quoted is 15,500 for a car that is NOT certified and has about 65,000 miles on it. Price is still being negotiated because we found a few little problems.
We had our trusty mechanic check it out and he found a few problems:
1. Turbo seems to be leaking oil. Not sure if this is a loose gasket or if the car needs a whole new turbo. Could be $10 to fix or upwards of $1500 to replace. There are coolant hoses that have to be replaced, too, as oil has dripped on them causing them to swell.
2. Bushings are cracked and need to be repaired.
We loved this car. It drove like a dream. And while it doesn't have everything we want (like the child middle seat and the third seat) it does have everything else possible.
Can anyone tell me if we are getting a sweet deal? Or are we buying a car that will have a big problem (and a bill to match it) later on.
