96 850T Can I read A/C codes? 850

I'm getting the flashing lights on the climate control when the ignition is first turned on. The system seems to work OK. Was the diagnostic system changed for 1996? I wanted to read the codes but don't see any way to do this as shown in my Haynes manual.
