Ok, still working on oil issues with this car. I noticed that there's a hard plastic ABS housing with a paper element inside that gets replaced. I'm guessing that a regular ol' screw-on filter from auto zone wouldn't be a direct swap in substitute. Of course, the paper element prolly has to come from the dealer. That's fine, I can deal with that, but I'd still like to plumb in a bypass oil filter somewhere. My two candidates so far are into the oil cooler line (although Paul S. mentioned that's probably thermostatically controlled so I'd only be filtering some of the time) or T into the pressure sensor location. Where are those two items located on my '99 2.3L HPT? Thanks very much in advance.
