The ride in my 2000 S80 T6 is very smooth and enjoyable, as long as there are no bumps. At any speed, going over bumps (not potholes), or any dips, or changes in the road surface, causes excessive lateral sway or oscillation. I never noticed this in my other (older) cars.
Is this what they mean by saying you can feel the road with sport suspension? What causes this lateral oscillation and if it is excessive are there any adjustments that can be made to mitigate this?
Also, because of this lateral motion, if the seat is in a high setting, my head can be forced into the hard driver-side handhold. Does this happen to anyone else?
Maybe Volvo makes safe cars if you are in an accident, but the back seat headrests that don't flop down and the wide pillars definitely obstruct my view, and I can smack my head on the hand-hold in an emergency maneuver, so I am not convinced the car is so safe compared to others.
