IPD ECU upgrade without the exhaust! S70 1999

I've heard that upgrading the ECU on a T5 without upgrading the exhaust can be dangerous. Something about overheating the exhaust system.

Anyone have any info on that? Anyone have the ECU upgrade without the exhaust system? What HP/torque do you end up with?
