Productive morning..CC, O2, Oil leak... long 850 1995

I took a couple of hours this Saturday morning to get to a couple of things needing attention. I was replacing my front O2 sensor to fix the 4-3-5 code and CEL so it looked like best access to the connector would be pulling the battery (wanted to clean around it anyway) and airbox.

Pulling the battery tray I found the Cruise Control motor's plug hanging loose. (Ok, maybe that's why it doesn't work.) I soaked the tray in a bucket of baking soda and water while doing the rest.

Getting the turbo control valve off the side of the airbox is a real pain evidenced by my finding it hanging loose first time I was under the hood.

Under the car the O2 sensor came out easily using an open end wrench. No special O2 removal socket needed. The replacement came with anti-sieze on the threads and once it was in I snaked the cable up to the connector bracket.

That done I moved to the leaking turbo oil return pipe. A 10mm socket and a 5mm hex wrench held in a vise grip and the pipe was off in two minutes. The old O-ring and gasket were replaced, a dab of RTV on ring and that's back together in no time.

I'll say now, that even though I have my car's service history and it was maintained at the dealership, I'm very dissappointed to find lots of shorcuts taken under the hood. The O2 sensor's connectors were not in their bracket, as I mentioned, the turbo control valve wasn't secured to the side of the airbox, the CC motor was unplugged, wires out of clamps etc. I found something else I'll ask for help on. Near the PNP switch, which had been replaced, is what looks like a piece of linkage that is just lying loose. There's an obvious hole in it where it should have been installed on a pivot or bolt. It's under the shift cable so I couldn't remove it without disassembling things further. Everything runs and works as it should but I need to find out what this is. Anyone have an exploded diagram of the linkage at the transmission?

It's hard to say whether all these things occurred over time or just the last time the owner had the car in before selling it.

Oh yea, I still can't reset the CEL and get the 4-3-5 code. I've looked at the rubber elbows and they seem ok. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
