I have 7 owned Volvo's since 1976 but never an AWD. I am considering trading my wife's 1999 V70 for an AWD model. Don't like XC, too much cladding, too bulky, otherwise a great car.
What's the story on the 2002/2003 V70 AWD. Problems or issues with AWD system, i.e. transmission, expensive upkeep, alignment, etc. I've read where early systems really were not much of a real all wheel drive system more of an expensive traction control system simply switching around to a non-spinning wheel. Also, current V70 very under powered (I also have a 5 series BMW for unfair comparisons)but how much power does the AWD rob from the 2.4T?
Thanks for any opinions.
