Should I buy a 1993 850..Advice on problems/lack of interchangable parts 850

Hi All,

My brother recently totalled his 1988 VW Scirraco. Luckily it wasn't a super severe accident otherwise he would be dead. Anyway, I have convinced him to look at Volvo 850s. We found a 1993 in great shape with 95,000 miles on it. We haven't driven it yet, just looked at it and interior/exterior ect. are in great shape considering the age and the fact that it has probably been in New England its whole life. It is a 5 speed which is a must have for him.

My question is: I know that they changed parts/design over the years. Are the 1993s any more expensive to maintain than say a 1995 because of rarity of parts?

Were there any particular trouble spots with the 1993s?

Thanks All.
