My 93 850 GLT cranks but will not run. The coil is not receiving the negative pulse while the starter is engaged. As soon as you release the key, then the coil fires a couple times (hooked up timing light to coil wire) but not soon enough to get the engine running. I thought there could be a short in the contacts of the ignition switch, so I ran a wire directly to the starter solenoid from the battery and left the ignition in the run position while cranking. Still same behavior. Pulled diagnostic codes from ECM, said “Absent Cam position sensor”. I replaced Cam position sensor, still no change, but now code is gone. Too bad it isn’t a standard, because I bet it would run if I push started it. Can anyone think of why the starter engaging would cause the signal to the coil to be interrupted? I am clueless!! Obviously there is a short somewhere!
