S70 Alarm S70 1998

I have a 1998 S70 2.0 T with 92,000 Kilometers. I am the second owner and it is a wonderful car. I have had absolutely no problems with it until this day. My only problem is that the car has no alarm and no remote controlled doors. I want to get an alarm system installed in it. But the original Volvo Security System is very expensive (over $500). What should I pay attention to if I go ahead and get a different brand alarm system installed in my car? Any recommendations for any specific alarm systems in the market ? And where is the Original Volvo Security Unit (alarm) is located (installed) in the S70s ?
