Contact reel replacement 850 1996

I had an SRS light on. The dealer said it indicated a driver air-bag fault, but they isolated it to the contact reel (the movable contact between the airbag and the rest of the SRS system, in the steering wheel).

Is this plausible? Has anyone replaced one of these before? Any things to watch out for other than the standard instructions concerning airbags?

The SRS light is off for now, so I assume it is intermittent.
