1996 855R fog lights problem

We just purchased a 1996 855R (heh, heh) and the fog lights hit the ground about 3 feet in front of the car. The spoiler was painted prior to purchase.

Can the fog lights be mounted on the wrong sides of the car or upside down or something?

The car is nicer than I expected, I did not think that the turbo would be as quiet as it is. Our other two 850s are NA.
