94 850 transmission will not change out of 1st gear when cold 850 1994

I have probllem with my 850 not swtiching out of first gear whne the engine is cold also engine gives me error code for rpm sensor i changed the sensor and still get the same error code. Car still doesnt change gears when the engine is cold. Any help is really appriciated thanks.
