I have a '96 850, bought it used and the radio code card didn't come with the usual documentation in the glove box. I need to unhook the battery to do some maintenance (fuel filter, fix the dome light box, etc.) and I need the radio code so I can make it work again when I hook the battery back up.
Having trolled these boards, I came to learn that I needed to call the dealer to find out the code. They won't give it to me over the phone -- I guess that part makes sense -- not even if I fax them the insurance card to them with my name on it and the VIN. Ok, no problem. They won't give me the code unless I present myself to them in person. I can live with that. But they want $10 too.
Big deal, $10. Still, it's a gouging. Just hacks me off -- I'm not getting a part here, just a _number_ for crying out loud. If I had any patience I'd just hack 9999 times to get it right. Of course I don't want to spend the rest of my life just trying to get a stupid factory radio to work.
Anyway, is there ay way to get my radio code without paying the $10 pirate's bounty?
