We are getting a whistling type noise from the engine after starting it up during cold weather. It will last a few minutes before it goes away. It happened last winter also and with no apparent damage. It is similar to a loose fan belt but different. It is not a squel. The accessory belt seems to be under pressure from the belt tensioner. Replacing the accessory belt when we replaced the alternator which went south over the summer hasn't changed anything.
The only things that I can think of are pulley on the belt tensioner, the a/c compressor and the water pump. Do any of these need routine maintenance?
TIA.
