My 850 SE cuts out and will not start. This has been an intermittant problem for about six months and has happened five times. It can happen at any time when driving or when tring to start after being parked though this time I have been unable to get it going. It makes no difference whether the engine is cold or hot. An interesting symptom is that when the ignition switch is switched on the temperature guage moves immediatly to half scale hesitates for a moment then moves to full scale. It stays at full scale for a few seconds and then drops to minimum. Also the transmission fault light is blinking this time, though I am not sure whether this was the case previously. The fault codes indicate a "break or short to earthin the torque-limiting circuit. I do not have a pin A6 so I cannot read the ignition fault codes. There is also no spark. I have replaced the crank angle sensor which got it going once, other times I have cleaned earth contacts around the battery and cleaned and reseated the ECU. Other times the fault has dissappeared after an hour or so without doing anything. The car has been running and starting perfectly in all conditions when it is not faulty.
