Power Door lock actuator dies, hangs alarm, cant' start car!!! V70-XC70

I just experienced frustration of having my '98 V70R leave me stranded. I was driving it to pick up a friend. It was fine that morning till we stopped for coffee. We came out and it wouldn't start. There was NO clicking, NO grinding. Headlights were fine, new battery (6 months old), BUT I had NO remote control access. Also interior lights would NOT work from 'door' position of roof switch.

I checked fuses & relays for immoblizer (found out later that '98s didn't have immobilizer), alarm, power door locks, lights, etc...

I had to get it towed to Volvo dealer. It turned out to be driver's door power door lock actuator. It died (shorted), blew fuse, but more importantly, it confused the alarm. It couldn't read the state of the driver's door, so it prevented the car from starting!!

Dealer told me there was NO way to disable the starter kill function from the factory alarm via programming. I was also told that there was NO way to remove a starter kill relay (or whatever) to bypass this feature of alarm.

Has anyone ever found a way to bypass the starter kill feature on alarm & still keep basic alarm & door lock/unlock features???

Thanks in advance for your thoughts/help!!
