Oil dip stick has a odd substance on it! 850

My friends 97' 850 GLT wagon has a creamy substance on the oil dip stick. In my opinion it looks like French Onion Dip. So what are the possiblities? A cracked head or seal? Is the color from a mix of the antifreeze slurping in? Thanks in advance.
