Sport/economy switch on 850 R 850 1997

Is it possible to have a faulty SPORT/ECONOMY switch on the 850 R. I can flip the swich back and forth and there is no difference when there once was. My question is that I want to know if it is stuck in ECONOMY for there is no great performance. The color lights still function when switched as does the WINTER button. I know a diagnostic tool will test but what am I looking at to fix the problem? Major trouble or just a new switch?
